Mystery Of Missing £400,000 Housing Benefit Payments

Mystery Of Missing £400,000 Housing Benefit Payments

R2R Company Owes Landlords £400,000 Housing Benefit Payments

Around £400,000 (GBP) in housing benefit payments have mysteriously disappeared after being paid to London Housing Solutions one of London’s biggest property agents, who specialise in letting property to tenants claiming benefits, Channel 4 News have revealed.

Channel 4 News attempted to trace both the present and former directors of the company, who admitted that the money had gone astray, but neither would accept responsibility for its disappearance.

Local Housing Solutions, an offshoot of London Housing Solutions, who until recently shared offices and staff in Catford also denied benefiting from the missing payments.

Channel 4 News understands at least 100 private rented sector landlords are owed rent by London Housing Solutions and the tenants spoken to by Channel 4, fear eviction as a result of the non payments.

The two rent 2 rent companies were originally set up by Keith MacGregor, who failed to respond to Channel 4 News’ accusations.

Will Your Property Be Affected By Fracking?

Will Your Property Be Affected By Fracking?

Fracking Concerns Ignored By Local Authorities And Government

There is a great deal of speculation and controversy surrounding the latest methods for extracting natural gas from under our feet, a process known as “Fracking” where a toxic mixture of chemicals are pumped into well heads to release gases trapped in the underlying bedrock.

The process is designed to fracture the rock strata, allowing gas to escape and rise to the surface and the controversial method is already being exploited widely in some states in the USA, with alarming results. Minor earth tremors are being caused and ground water is becoming saturated with methane and other flammable gases and some residents living near the remote drilling sites have to rely on bottled supplies to be able to drink and water cattle, however the companies controlling the drilling are happy to pay people off and ignore what they are being told.

Here in the UK, gas companies have identified potential sites that they reckon hold enough natural gas reserves to last for the next 30-40 years, unfortunately these areas are also heavily populated, not like in the USA.

ARLA Calls For Rental Regulation In England

ARLA Calls For Rental Regulation In England

Government Urged To Rethink PRS Regulation

The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) wants the Government to bring England in line with the rest of the UK by calling for greater regulation of the private rental sector to better protect tenants.

ARLA argues that tenants in England could soon be less well protected than their Scottish and Welsh counterparts, due to the delay by the Government to introduce laws allowing for better regulation of the lettings industry.

According to data released by ARLA, 36% of all households in England are in private sector rented accommodation and the lack of regulation of the Private Rental Sector (PRS) is fast becoming an issue that affects more of the population than ever before.

The Scottish government reviewed its strategy for the PRS on the 30th May, while the Welsh government is set to introduce a Housing Bill legislating for a compulsory licensing scheme for all letting agents in Wales, as well as a code of practice, before the end of the 2012/13 Assembly term.

The announcements by Scottish and Welsh parliaments are in stark contrast with the current UK Government’s stance of opposition to regulation of the Private Rental Sector because of an apparent fear that landlords will become bogged down and put off by having to wade through a mountain of red tape.

On the surface this seems incredibly thoughtful of the Government, however, it is not to be forgotten that they also intend for all landlords to become unpaid agents for the UK Border Agency policing the immigration status of all tenants. No matter how watered down that proposal becomes the intent of those in power was made clear – to tap into powerful resources to save themselves money. It does make you wonder if the reluctance for regulation is simply because the Government can’t find a way to financially benefit from introducing new regulatory legislation at this current time.

THANKS GUYS and GIRLS !!!!

Posts and news stories from Spotlight are syndicated across the entire web and are regularly commented on via various social media networks and we have even had news stories picked up by Sky TV.

We have had stories and articles covering almost all the hot property investment and landlord topics, from Government legislation to finance and all things in between.

One of our first posts was to help spread the word to all landlords and property investors about the importance of attending property networking events, organised by like minded people who understand the power of communication and value the worth and contribution of others. At the time of publishing (August 2009) there were 35 UK property networking events – Today August 2012 there are 68 UK based property network meetings and 1 in Paris, France.

One of our most popular articles concerned property fraud and identity theft, has racked up an astonishing 65,987 views since publication on 1st September, a little over 11 months ago. The news story is still ongoing and the investor is now over £22,000 (GBP) out of pocket and is no nearer any form of resolution.

Read the original “Spotlight news article – Property Fraud on the increase” here or read the article “Stop Fraudsters Selling Stolen Houses

In an update, the victim Donna Jeavons said ” The stolen house situation is still NOT sorted, been battling now since Jan 2011!!!! Lost loads of money on it up to now, about £22k now lost! Sick and tired of the situation to be honest, don’t know how or when it going to end… so I will see how I feel when it has ended. Its looking like I won’t get back mortgage interest paid to date, purchase costs and insurance paid out, I may get some of my solicitor fees back… we will have to wait and see.”

Please keep reading, contributing and commenting on Spotlight and we will endeavour to bring you even more from property and all things associated with it!
